Developing a monitoring, evaluation and learning (MEL) framework for an integrated digital mental health service for people affected by complex mental health issues
SANE Australia (SANE) is a national Australian charity specialising in mental health support, research, and advocacy for people affected by complex mental health issues.
The service offering:
Impact Measurement & Evaluation
The problem:
SANE developed a new integrated service model called SANE Support that aims to meet the immediate needs of people affected by complex mental health issues that have been exacerbated by COVID-19, and to fill key gaps in available digital mental health service options.
With funding coming to an end, SANE was seeking ongoing Federal Government funding, so it was imperative the service model design and operational and evaluation components were well articulated and robust.
The outcome:
We developed an overarching theory of change, a monitoring and evaluation framework, and an implementation plan to sit alongside SANE support.
These were outcomes-driven, pragmatic and action-oriented, and clearly articulated how elements of the service model would be achieved and measured.
The MEL framework in action
The robust framework provides SANE staff with a clear structure to measure the impact of their service offerings that will also help improve service delivery using a quality improvement lens.
“Maria has an excellent ability to develop pragmatic solutions to complex problems in the health and social sectors. She is skilled at developing and articulating a robust theory of change to inform social change initiatives and designing and implementing monitoring and evaluation frameworks that enable teams and organisations to measure their outcomes effectively.”
